Phase I Concept Plan

Site Analysis Plan

The Birmingham Zoo Redevelopment Feasibility project represents the beginning of a planning process to revitalize the old municipally operated Zoo in Mountain Brook Village area.  It is a concept which seeks to determine what solutions can be proposed to overcome the shortcomings of the existing zoo and what possibilities existed on the site, which can be exploited.  Major reorganization was proposed which utilized the existing infrastructure and major buildings.

This plan was seen as too limiting for the future of Birmingham, and work shifted to the alternate site, The Birmingham Ecoplex

Mr. Lash was in charge of conceptual zoological and site planning, including programming and cost estimating for this study.
